Yokohama Landmark Tower remains a defining feature of the Minato Mirai skyline and a useful landmark for navigating the waterfront district. Its Sky Garden observation deck, however, has been suspended since January 1, 2026. Do not plan a visit around the 69th-floor view unless the official site has announced that it has reopened.

Completed in 1993, Yokohama Landmark Tower was once the tallest building in Japan and continues to rank among the nation's most impressive architectural achievements. Its sleek design and commanding height make it visible from many parts of the city, particularly along Yokohama Bay. Whether approaching from the waterfront, viewing the skyline from a distance, or standing at its base in Minato Mirai, the tower immediately draws attention and serves as a visual anchor for the surrounding district.

The practical reason to stop here during the suspension is Landmark Plaza and its place in a wider Minato Mirai walk. The surrounding district has pedestrian promenades, public spaces, shopping and waterfront attractions, so the tower works better as an orientation point than as a standalone viewpoint visit.

Skyline and sunset planning should happen elsewhere while the deck is unavailable. Minato Mirai's waterfront promenades, Yamashita Park and the Cosmo Clock 21 ride provide currently visitable alternatives, each with a different ground-level or ride-based experience.
