Fuji-Q Highland

Fuji-Q Highland (富士急ハイランド) is a roller coaster park at the foot of Mount Fuji, next to Fujikyu Highland Station in Fujiyoshida. Entry is free, but every ride needs a ticket, so the real choice is between paying per ride (2,000 yen for each big coaster) and a One-Day Pass that costs 6,000 to 7,900 yen for adults depending on the date. Hours change day by day, rides close on scheduled inspection days, and the biggest coasters bar riders over 55 or 65, so check the calendar before you buy.

What Fuji-Q Highland is for
Fuji-Q Highland is the thrill-ride park of the Fuji Five Lakes. Its three headline coasters each hold or have held a world record: FUJIYAMA (1996), the big lift-hill coaster with no loops; Eejanaika (2006), whose seats spin as it runs for 14 rotations in all; and Takabisha (2011), with a 121-degree drop. Around them are Thomas Land, the outdoor Thomas the Tank Engine park, plus character areas built around Lisa and Gaspard, Naruto and Boruto, and San-X characters, so families with young children have a separate day here.
The ticket structure decides the visit. Walking in is free once you have a free admission ticket from the counter or online, and you then buy rides one by one at the ticket machines. A One-Day Pass covers most rides for a date-dependent price, an Afternoon Pass starts at 1 p.m., and a few attractions cost extra even with a pass. If you plan to ride the three big coasters and little else, compare 6,000 yen of single tickets with that day's pass price.

The park sits at the foot of the mountain, so Mount Fuji rises behind the coasters on clear days. It is one stop from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyuko Line, which makes it easy to pair with Lake Kawaguchiko or Chureito Pagoda, although a full coaster day leaves little time for either.
